June 2019 Action Item
Pastor John Cao (Cao San-Qiang) has spent years working among the poor of Myanmar on the Chinese border. Pastor Cao is married to an American citizen, Jamie Powell, and has lived for many years in North Carolina, but this husband and father of two sons was led to return to China to do humanitarian work in the name of Christ. He has been involved in the building of over 16 schools and numerous other projects to help the poorest of poor in Wa State. However, his work and Christian faith brought him under the scrutiny of the Chinese government, and in March 2017 he was arrested and charged with “organizing illegal crossings of national borders” and, one year later, sentenced him to seven years in prison. Write to Pastor Cao today to remind him he is not forgotten, that many are praying for him, and to encourage him to stay strong in his faith.
