August 2019 Action

Christians and various minorities in Nigeria have long faced brutal attacks, abductions, and other atrocities. The situation of violence has been unrelenting and is bordering on genocide. It is time for the government of Nigeria to act swiftly and effectively to protect all citizens of their country and put and end to these horrific abuses. We are calling on the Nigerian ambassador to the United States to use the power and privilege of his position to intervene and especially to work to eradicate Boko Haram and other terrorists actors in the region.

Write to:

Ambassador Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor
3519 International Ct NW
Washington, DC 20008

Salutation: Your Honorable Ambassador Nsofor

Suggested points:

  • Express your profound horror and dismay and the ongoing targeting of innocent civilians, especially Christians and young women by terrorists groups in Nigeria for years.
  • Express your confusion at the government’s inability to effectively combat this violence—which could be classified as a genocide—and protect its population.
  • Respectfully urge the ambassador to use the power and privilege of his position to persuade those in power to embark immediately on a full-scale campaign to eradicate Boko Haram and other terrorist actors in their country. Specifically call on the ambassador and his governmental colleagues to exert unceasing effort to rescue Leah Sharibu, and other abducted girls, from their horrific captivity.
