In recent days, we have felt the urgency of prayer more acutely. To that end, we are adopting our usual November IDOP practice of seeing “prayer as action.” So please use your prayer time for the persecuted and oppressed to reinforce your own belief that prayer moves events, people, circumstances, and even our own hearts in far more profound ways than we can ever imagine or that our own hands apart from God ever could.

That being said, if you would still like to write letters this month, please feel free to encourage these believers in Iran that we wrote to in July as this list was longer than our usual action item.

Nine members of the Church of Iran, which imprisoned Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani led, were arrested in Rasht in February 2019 and charged with “acting against national security” and “promoting Zionism.” Babak Hosseinzadeh, Mehdi Khatibi,Kamal Naamanian, Mohammed Vafadar, Behnam Akhlaghi, Khalil Dehkanpour, Hossein (Elisha) Kadivar, Abdolreza (Matthias) Haghnejad, and Shahrooz Eslamdous were all helping to lead the church in Pastor Nadarkhani’s absence and all were given 5-year prison sentences, despite the fact that neither they nor their lawyers were allowed to attend their appeal hearing in February 2020. Send an encouraging note to each of them today letting them know they are not forgotten!
