March 2022 Action

March 2022 Action

Human trafficking is one of the most profound evils perpetrated today. An estimated 40 million people live in modern-day slavery right now, and the injustice and inhumanity of human trafficking infects many of the products we buy, the food we eat, the services we benefit from. It is not enough to denounce the practice. As individuals and as a society, we need to put our money where our mouth is. This month we are joining International Justice Mission in calling on our leaders in Congress to help eradicate this scourge on humanity—ours and others’—by funding anti-trafficking efforts. As IJM’s action states:

US leadership in the fight against trafficking around the world is led by State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office). The TIP Office and its initiatives like the Program to End Modern Slavery (PEMS) are critical US government programs that allow organizations like IJM to continue the work of prosecution of traffickers, protection of survivors, and prevention of trafficking in the first place. And you have the power to make this happen – Congress will not act unless you raise your voice.

Write to your congress people today calling for them to support the funding of the TIP Office and its initiatives!

If participating remotely, you can use the link below to sign an online letter that will reach your elected officials:

I urge you to use your power as an elected official to fund the government in FY22 and ensure that victims of human trafficking aren’t left to suffer as a result of political inaction and delay.

Please support a 2022 appropriations bill that includes full funding for the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office) and Program to End Modern Slavery (PEMS).

Please consider making a public display of support for U.S. leadership to combat human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
