September 2022 Action

Professor Richard Solomon Tarfa founded the Du Merci Orphanages in Kano and Kanduna States in Nigeria, with his wife Mercy. Instead of being applauded for their great work on behalf of vulnerable children, the couple has been targeted and harassed for years because of their Christian faith. In March 2022, Professor Tarfa was sentenced to two years in prison on trumped up charges of forgery. Not only is this a miscarriage of justice, but Professor Tarfa suffers from numerous health challenges that make his imprisonment much more dangerous. And this travesty does not just affect Professor and Mrs Tarfa, the children of Du Merci Orphanages lives have been made more vulnerable, as well, with the founder and father-figure of the orphanages imprisoned. Send a letter to the Nigerian Ambassador today urging the Nigerian government to review this flawed conviction and sentence, and to expedite the return of the Du Merci children.
