July 2023 Action

While the international outcry against the imprisonment of prominent Christian leader Reverend Samson in Burma/Myanmar is encouraging, write to urge the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom to use the influence of the office to call for the government of Myanmar to immediately and unconditionally release Reverend Samson.

Write to:

Commissioner David Curry
United States Commission on International Religious Freedom
32 N. Capitol Street, N.W., Suite A714
Washington, D.C. 20401
China

Suggested talking points:

  • Indicate that you were encouraged by the official statement by the State Department denouncing the imprisonment of Reverend Samson.
  • Say that despite this positive action, the fact that Reverend Samson remaining in prison on trumped up charges is not unjust for him and his family, it also gives further license for the persecution of ordinary Christians and other religious minorities in Myanmar.
  • Respectfully urge that the United States government continue in dialogue and urgent action to call for the immediate and unconditional release of Reverend Samson and for increased religious freedom and greater protections for religious minorities in Myanmar.
