March 2014 Action Item

As a missionary to China since 1964, John Short is not unfamiliar with being a visible Christian in a hostile setting, including previous arrests and the revoking of his visa to mainland China. Now 75, Short is facing perhaps one of the most challenging circumstances of his life. On 15 February during a tour trip to North Korea, Short was questioned in his hotel room and then detained because of some Korean gospel tracts he had in his possession. His wife was only made aware of her husband's detention when another member of the tour group was allowed to leave three days later. Currently, the Australian and Swedish governments are working on behalf of John Short to try to secure his release. In the meantime, write to his wife Karen to encourage them both and let them you know you are praying for them, and for all those surrounding John during this time.
